Sailing Club Pier

Sailing-Club-Pier-2

Clywedog Sailing Club is based at the Clywedog reservoir in Wales.  They have an active sailing club comprising of dinghies and small keelboats, where they need a moveable pier!

Why a moveable Pier?  Depending on rainfall, water use and a multitude of factors, they can deal with a change in water height in the reservoir of up to 7 meters in height!  As a result Airfloat designed and installed with the help of MarineServices a running mooring system for the pier allowing the pier to be pulled in and out depending on the height of the water.  This allows the pier to be used to its full extent no matter the height of water in the reservoir, a system that has been in use for nearly 25 years!

Unfortunately in a recent severe winter storm their original system that had served faithfully and with little maintenance got damaged with around 75% of the modules damaged beyond repair.  The club had so much faith in the system they contacted Airfloat to see could we supply a replacement system and would our new modules still interact and work with their old modules?

Of course they do, not only were we able to supply a new pier with the remaining ‘good’ modules we were able to extend the pier making it longer for the club and more useful!

As the club is remote, Marine Services were tasked to deliver and install the new system to ensure it worked seamlessly with the old system which of course it did.

Airfloat believes strongly in reduce reuse recycle and rather than the old modules ending up in landfill, Marine Services brought the old modules back to be recycled into new modules!
